Valve Leadman

Position summary: The Valve Leadman will oversee workflow and be responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management. This candidate will be an individual who will be able to guide and train employees in tank car valve repair activities, be well-versed in company processes, results-driven, and focused. The goal is to ensure that operations are carried out productively to ensure profitability and sustainable growth. Tasks: The leadman will communicate goals and performance deadlines to subordinates based on what is provided by the Valve supervisor. The valve supervisor and leadman will work together to organize the Valve workflow. Once organized the leadmen will ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. Receive complaints and resolve problems. Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa. Help train new employees. Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and relay violations to Manager as needed. Skills: Proven experience as supervisor or relevant role. Familiarity with company policies and legal guidelines of the field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to understand and learn multiple job descriptions. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills. Qualities: Ability to communicate effectively (oral & written). Ability to lead others in an industrial setting. Dependable Teachable Experience and Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) At least 1-3 years of Railcar Repair/Valve Experience. Must exhibit leadership and decision-making skills. Committed to Personal Excellence (Safety, Quality, Productivity) Working Conditions: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Exposure to elements: hot / cold Lifting up to 50 pounds or more to accomplish work tasks. Long periods of standing; walking, bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, and entering confined spaces and elevated surfaces. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, work boots and the ability to wear a respirator. Requires the use of a tight-fitting respirator; You must be appropriately clean-shaven per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, at all times.
