ABCO Transportation has an immediate opportunity for a Lead Diesel Mechanic at our Ocala FL Service Center.
The Lead Diesel Mechanic will provide technical support to other techs and take lead on processes and procedures to ensure that company equipment meets or exceeds DOT and OSHA specifications. This is a hands-on role.
**Key Responsibilities**
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform the maintenance, repair and reconditioning of vehicular equipment and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) units
Perform the repair, reworking and/or replacement of electrical systems
Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single & multi-temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on board computer modules
Perform repair and maintenance on trucks including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications3
Accountability for Parts Inventory and equipment.
Maintain the maintenance shop and its associated facilities in a state of operational readiness during its scheduled working hours
Maintain clean, orderly and safe working environment
Assist with training and development of maintenance staff
Comply with the local implementation of NEC maintenance and safety standard operating procedures in this maintenance facility, ensuring that local maintenance staff follow
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
Advanced knowledge of tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and mechanical equipment
Advance knowledge in diagnostics, repair and preventative maintenance of diesel systems and components
Advanced knowledge in diagnostics, repair and preventative maintenance of reefer trucks and trailers
Proven service background with knowledge of warranties
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partners
Intermediate computer skills
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; Spanish a plus
**Qualifications**
Summary of Experience and Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Must have proven basic leadership experience.
Minimum of five years of class 8 diesel shop experience
Refrigerated trailer mechanical repair experience a plus
ASE Certification as a Master Truck Technician and/or Master Automotive Technician preferred
