This role requires a high level of skill in urban delivery environments, including navigating congested metropolitan areas, executing tight turns, and backing a 53-foot trailer in restricted spaces.As a Delivery Driver, responsibilities also include delivering and unloading products, verifying order accuracy, reviewing and completing required documentation, correcting delivery discrepancies, and accurately entering trip data into onboard systems. Drivers are expected to maintain compliance with all safety regulations while delivering excellent customer service.Job Responsibilities:Safely operate a tractor-trailer (53-foot trailer) in both regional and dense metropolitan environmentsPerform deliveries and unloading of products using appropriate equipment, including ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, and load barsExecute tight backing maneuvers and precise positioning in narrow streets, loading docks, and urban delivery locationsThis is a touch freight position, requiring frequent physical handling of productAdhere to all company safety policies and DOT regulations, minimizing accidents, traffic violations, and public complaintsImmediately report any accidents or incidents to the Transportation ManagerConduct thorough vehicle inspections and promptly report defects using proper documentation (DCVR)Pick up backhauls and vendor supplies while ensuring all associated paperwork is complete and accurateVerify delivery accuracy, including product count and condition, ensuring orders match customer specificationsAddress and resolve customer concerns professionally and efficientlyComplete all required logs, timecards, and trip data entries accurately and on timeJob Requirements:Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and current DOT medical cardMinimum of one (1) year of recent experience operating a 53-foot trailer in metropolitan/city environmentsExperience must include tight backing, narrow street navigation, and urban route deliveryDemonstrated proficiency in safely operating an electric pallet jack in delivery settingsAbility to pass a written exam and road testWorking knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standardsStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be at least 21 years of ageAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervisionWork Environment:Dispatch window is between 1:00 PM to 6:00 AMRoutes include layovers throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding statesFrequent metropolitan deliveries, including high-traffic areas such as New York City, Baltimore, and Washington, DCYear-round operations in all weather conditions (4-season driving)About UNFI:We are North America's premier grocery wholesaler, delivering a wide variety of fresh, branded, and private-label products to community grocers and national retailers.
