School ClerkOrange Beach City SchoolsReports to: School Principal or DesigneeJob Goal: To assist in the administration in the smooth and efficient operation of the department(s) assignedQualifications:Holds a high school diploma or equivalentPost-secondary training at a technical or business college is preferredAbility to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or school informationProficiency in oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilitiesAlternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptablePerformance Responsibilities:Performs typical office practices; answers telephone, types and enters data, organizes, files, prepares and submits reports, handles correspondence as assigned, and performs various clerical functions, in a busy office with frequent interruptions and limited supervisionMaintains confidentiality of all information concerning school mattersGreets all guests in a cordial and friendly manner that promotes public and community support for the school systemMaintains log of visitors and sign-in/out roster of visitorsUses effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups (e.g. staff, parents, probation officers, other schools, and/or students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or directionsCommunicates with parents, students, staff, etc. in person, by telephone or letter for the purpose of providing information on a variety of attendance issues and meeting district and state absence notification requirementsMaintains a variety of attendance records, schedules, and files (manual and computer) (e.g. contact and telephone logs, student attendance, school calendars, etc.) for the purpose of providing reliable information in compliance with district policiesEnsures accuracy of attendance records, including verification of forgeries and truancies for the purpose of complying with State laws governing attendance accountingPrepares a variety of reports and written materials (e.g. passes, standardized and special attendance reports, letters to parents, etc.) for the purpose of conveying information regarding school and/or district activities and proceduresProcesses documents and materials (e.g. attendance records, student placement, disciplinary and/or suspension notices, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate partiesReceives, sorts, and delivers all incoming mailDemonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibilityProperly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school systemSupports, and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulationsPerforms other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)Terms of Employment/Salary: 10 months (202 Days) / Non-Exempt / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
