POSITION DESCRIPTION:Position Title:President of RTL / Refrigerated Trucking & LogisticsDepartment:OperationsLocation:Eagan, MNReports To:CEO/OwnerSUMMARY OF POSITION:The President of RTL plays a key role in the strategic direction of the organization. This position is responsible for the development and execution of the Company's short and long-term Trucking Division goals and strategic planning to ensure maximum utilization of company assets to deliver the required service levels to our customers with consistency and excellence.As a senior leader, this position has overall responsibility for all Trucking & RL Operations and provides leadership and vision to create a highly engaged, motivated team to execute our business plans. The President of RTL operates cross-functionally and develops strong relationships inside and outside of the organization as they lead a team of Drivers (company, leased and independent contractors) and Operations employees and leaders to drive world-class performance in safety, cost effectiveness, service and retention. This role is also has full P&L accountability for the trucking division.In addition, this role is responsible to support business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:Active member of the senior leadership team to drive strategic and tactical initiatives as well as drive top and bottom-line resultsActive participation with our Advisory Board and related processes and activitiesProvide leadership for new ideas and approaches to drive operational rigor and resultsSupport CEO with clear, data-driven recommendations; identify and address risks in line with company goals and objectivesEvaluate strategies to expand on the core strengths of the business and respond to competitive developments in the industryStay abreast of industry trends, advancements in technology and best practices to ensure the company is competitively positioned with in the marketplace and continues to provide excellent service and value to its customersDevelopment and execution of business growth plan strategies within areas of responsibility in order to proactively enhance the company's ability to meet the needs of existing and new customers while remaining consistent with the company's policies, procedures, and philosophiesDevelopment and management of key performance processes and metricsLead and be accountable for the Trucking operations (fleet operations, customer service, extended coverage, planning, Leasing and Independent Contractor Programs and driver recruiting etc)Overall accountability for the Safety and Maintenance functionsAccountable for setting, communicating and achieving operational metrics (driver operations, safety, maintenance and others as identified)Lead applicable Sales Staff and partner with Sales (and pricing) to propose solutions to customers as relevantCustomer retention and serviceMeet or exceed company metrics relating to safety, low cost and turnover/retentionMeet or exceed company metrics relating to maintenance; develop strategies and initiatives that ensure efficient utilization of equipmentAttract and retain the best talent in the industry (drivers & operations personnel)Develop/improve Freight Network by working with other senior leaders to define company needs and capacityCreate continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes, training, and help control costs* Communicate, partner and work with all Bay & Bay employees while leading and role modeling our culture of Safety, Positive Attitude, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence* Trucking division P&L responsibilityPersonnel development, including but not limited to:Complete staff performance reviews timely and effectivelyPromote, hire or replace team members as needed, to keep our abilities at a level that matches our business needs and/or industry trendsDirect and manage your team member's activities (including delegating duties as appropriate) in alignment with their respective department goals and in support of the overall Company goalsLead and ensure team members are accountable, meet deadlines timely and are results focusedEnsure team members operate, interact and communicate in a respectful and professional manner consistentlyEncourage effective and efficient personnel performance through team building, leadership, motivation, training, coaching and professional development and growthAddress performance concerns timely and effectivelyEstablish departmental procedures, work instructions and/or measurement systems consistent with Company policies, processes and directives (as needed)Display open communication with all related personnel of the CompanyCreate and support a culture of strong, engaged, challenged, productive and loyal team membersNote: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:Bachelor's degree in related field or combination of education and experience15+ years' experience in transportation operations leadership roles demonstrating career progressionPast President of Trucking Operations leadership role and experience requiredStrong M&A experience requiredExcellent depth and breadth of trucking industry operations experience, including Fleet Management, Customer Service, Planning, Driver Recruiting, Safety, Maintenance and SalesHigh level of financial acumen, full ownership of related P&LDemonstrated proficiency in working collaboratively and cross-functionally with all levels of the organizationStrong leadership, interpersonal & negotiation skillsMust be collaborative, an innovative thinker and decisiveMust be results oriented with strong strategic thinking skills and approachMust be able to build and foster new and existing business relationships and be comfortable presenting company strategy (as relevant) to existing and potential customersStrong executive presence and visibilityHigh sense of urgency and passion for working in a face-paced, dynamic environmentDemonstrated ability to drive business activities with a high level of personal integrity and professionalismDemonstrated leadership, mentoring and team developing abilities (strong team following)Strong change management skills
