Middleware Engineer

Role :- Vet PIMS & Pharmacy Middleware Integration EngineerLocation :- United states (Remote)Contract SummaryWe're looking for an integration engineer with 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience building and operating middleware across veterinary Practice Information Management Systems (PIMS), pharmacy management systems, and downstream platforms - labs, payments, communications, analytics, and cloud services. You'll own the integration layer end to end: connectivity, data mapping, sync, and reliability across a diverse and evolving PIMS and pharmacy landscape.What you'll doDesign, build, and maintain middleware/integrations connecting veterinary PIMS and pharmacy management systems to third-party and internal platforms.Build and operate integrations on veterinary middleware platforms - Bitwerx and DataHubVet - as the core of our integration stack.Develop and manage API, database-level, and file-based integrations (REST, webhooks, batch/flat-file, DB connectors).Handle data mapping, transformation, and bi-directional sync (patients, clients, appointments, invoices, clinical records, prescriptions, and pharmacy/dispensing data).Ensure reliability, error handling, monitoring, and reconciliation across all integrations.Troubleshoot production issues and work directly with practices, pharmacies, and vendors on connectivity and data quality.Required experience5+ years of hands-on integration engineering experience, with a strong focus on the veterinary or healthcare domain.Hands-on experience with veterinary PIMS middleware platforms — Bitwerx and DataHubVet — is essential (this is the core of the role).Proven integration experience across veterinary PIMS platforms — specifically ezyVet, Cornerstone, ImproMed, Pulse, AVImark, and Neo (experience across several required).Experience integrating veterinary or healthcare pharmacy management systems (prescriptions, dispensing, formulary, and inventory data).Strong grasp of API integration patterns, data mapping, and sync architectures.Solid programming background (e.g., .NET, Java, Python, or Node.js) and strong SQL/database skills.Experience with middleware/integration design, including error handling, retries, and monitoring.Nice to haveFamiliarity with IDEXX / Covetrus ecosystems and their integration mechanisms.Experience with lab, payment, or client-communication integrations in the vet or healthcare space.Cloud integration experience (AWS/Azure) and messaging/queueing patterns.
