Accountant II Location: San Diego, California 92129 Duration: 3 Months Schedule: Standard shift (Part-Time) Note Provide support for month-end and quarter-end financial close activities Work on a part-time basis, approximately 89 days per month Typical schedule includes the last 6 business days of the month and the first 3 business days of the following month Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant II to support month-end and quarter-end close activities. This is a part-time opportunity requiring work during critical close periodstypically the last 6 business days of the month and the first 3 business days of the following month. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, particularly in accrual processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare, analyze, and maintain documentation supporting monthly accruals through the Service PO Accrual (SPO) process Apply GAAP principles to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions Collaborate with requestors and financial analysts to prepare accruals effectively Support SPO database management, including preparation and analysis of accrual data Identify and communicate procurement and accounts payable discrepancies for resolution Participate in cross-training and provide support across corporate accounting functions Continuously evaluate and improve processes, ensuring strong internal controls and efficiency Assist during peak accounting periods with flexibility across responsibilities Required Skills & Qualifications 34 years of relevant experience in accounting, purchasing, or accounts payable Solid understanding of accrual accounting concepts Experience with automated AP and purchasing systems (Oracle preferred) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication skills across all organizational levels Customer-focused mindset with strong support skills Education Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (preferred) Work Schedule Approximately 89 working days per month 8-hour workdays during close cycles (flexible timing)
