Windows/Microsoft Administrator (Contract)Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite)Duration: ~8 months (40 hours/week)Role OverviewWe are seeking an hands-on Microsoft/Windows Administrator to support a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning Azure and on-prem systems. This role will focus on licensing optimization, patching automation, and core systems administration while helping transition manual processes into scalable, automated solutions. This position plays a key role in improving operational efficiency, reducing licensing waste, and increasing system reliability across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesMicrosoft Administration & InfrastructureAdminister and support Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and domain controllersManage and maintain Azure and on-prem hybrid infrastructure, including virtualized and bare-metal systemsProvide hands-on support across systems administration, troubleshooting, and performance optimizationLicensing & Inventory ManagementConduct a full inventory of internal systems aligned to Microsoft licensingAnalyze current license utilization (e.g., Remote Desktop Licensing) to identify under-used or unnecessary allocationsDevelop year-over-year licensing cost projections to support renewal planningPartner with internal stakeholders and licensing advisors to recommend cost-optimization strategiesTransition manual licensing tracking processes into more structured and automated workflowsPatching & AutomationSupport and extend Azure-based patching tools across on-prem environments (including Nutanix/AHV and bare-metal systems)Improve patching success rates from current ~95–96% to a target of 99% through automation and process improvementsPerform pre-patch validation and inventory checks to ensure successful deploymentsDocument patching processes and implement automation to reduce manual interventionProcess Improvement & DocumentationIdentify and reduce manual, repetitive operational tasks through scripting and automationMaintain and update system documentation, including SOPs and operational proceduresSupport updates to systems such as ServiceNow CMDB (or equivalent) to ensure accurate configuration and asset trackingContribute to improving overall operational efficiency and audit readinessCollaboration & SupportWork closely with internal SMEs and technical teams to support ongoing initiativesProvide backfill support and assist with onboarding and knowledge sharingCommunicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong experience as a Windows Systems Administrator in enterprise environmentsHands-on experience with:Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group PolicyAzure administration and hybrid environmentsWindows patching and systems maintenanceExperience with Microsoft licensing, procurement, or asset managementProven ability to automate tasks using scripting (PowerShell preferred)Experience supporting or improving patching processes and system reliabilityStrong documentation and organizational skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience working in hybrid Azure+on-prem environmentsExposure to Nutanix/AHV or similar infrastructure platformsExperience supporting audit, compliance, or cost-optimization initiativesFamiliarity with CMDB tools (e.g., ServiceNow)Background in transitioning from manual to automated processesWork Style & CultureHands-on, pragmatic, and solution-orientedComfortable working in environments with legacy systems and manual processesStrong communicator with a patient, collaborative approachAbility to adapt quickly and contribute in an fast-moving environmentAdditional Details40 hours/week commitmentHybrid schedule (3 days onsite, flexible)Initial contract ~8 months (potential for extension based on performance)Equal Employment Opportunity StatementGravity IT Resources is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
