Shop LaborerThe Shop Laborer supports production by cleaning, finishing, and handling metal parts used in food processing equipment. This role focuses on cleaning welds, grinding and polishing components, washing and organizing parts, and assisting with general shop duties in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesClean welds on metal parts using a small weld cleaning unit, including applying a mild acid solution, rinsing with water, and using a neutralizing solution to ensure welds are properly finished.Wash and rinse parts thoroughly to meet cleanliness and quality standards for food processing equipment components.Assist with handling and moving parts coming off machines, ensuring safe and efficient transfer to the appropriate work areas.Lift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift while following safe lifting practices.Use handheld grinders to grind, polish, and finish parts to specified standards, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish.Operate small pencil grinders and other hand tools to perform detailed deburring and finishing work on metal components.Demonstrate reliability by maintaining consistent attendance, punctuality, and focus on assigned tasks.Follow all safety procedures when using mild acids, neutralizing solutions, hand tools, and power tools.Essential SkillsExperience using hand tools and power tools in a shop or similar environment.Deburring and grinding experience, including use of handheld grinders and related finishing tools.Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with metal parts and shop equipment.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and perform physical labor throughout the shift.Strong attention to detail to ensure parts are cleaned, finished, and organized correctly.Work EnvironmentThis role is based on the production floor in a very clean, climate-controlled, and well-lit facility. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of working until 5:30 p.m. as needed. There may be occasional mandatory Saturday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and during busy seasons you should be open to working up to approximately 55 hours per week. You will work on the production floor alongside about 15 other employees and will be the only person in your immediate department, while still working within close proximity to coworkers for support and communication. The environment uses typical shop equipment such as weld cleaning units, handheld grinders, pencil grinders, carts, and pallets, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organization.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frankfort, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00/hr.
