Network Software Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!The Role Develop creative and impactful communications and networked systems solutions for national challenges. Design, develop, integrate, and test communications and network software, including protocol implementation, network services, and distributed systems. Work to ensure solutions operate in degraded or contested environments. Provide technical contributions and leadership in the development of software systems. Architect, develop, integrate, and test software-based command and control, secure communication, and networking systems. Interact with technical specialists in other fields and present work to sponsors and the technical community.What You'll Need Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline. At least ten years of relevant experience in software system development, ideally in a Linux environment. Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, routing, switching, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS). Demonstrated skill with C, C++, Python, Rust, and BASH scripting, following software engineering best practices. Experience devising approaches and using tools to debug networked systems (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark, netstat, ss).
