Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community & Residential Support About the RoleAs a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you play a hands-on role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges. You will work directly with individuals in their homes and communities, helping them build daily living skills, maintain meaningful routines, and live as independently and safely as possible.This is a relationship-centered role where your work has real impact-supporting people in moments that matter, from everyday tasks to important life skills that promote dignity, confidence, and choice.What You'll DoIn this role, your day-to-day responsibilities may include:Supporting individuals with personal care needs such as hygiene, grooming, and daily routinesAssisting with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and maintaining a safe living environmentHelping individuals build and practice independent living skills (shopping, transportation, budgeting, etc.)Providing companionship and encouragement while promoting social and community engagementObserving, documenting, and reporting changes in behavior, health, or progressFollowing individual service plans and support goals developed by the care teamSupporting individuals in the community, including outings, appointments, and activitiesCommunicating respectfully with families, supervisors, and support teamsFollowing behavioral support plans, safety guidelines, and agency policiesSchedule & PaySchedules vary from part-time (28 hours/week) to full-time (40 hours/week)Pay range: $20-$26 per hour, DOE (Depending on Experience)Schedule varies and may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidaysLocationResidential homes located in East County, including areas such as Santee and El CajonWhat We're Looking ForThis role is a great fit if you are reliable, compassionate, and comfortable providing hands-on support.Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentValid driver's license and access to reliable transportationCurrent CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Ability to pass background checks and meet state requirementsComfortable assisting with personal care and daily living activitiesAbility to work independently and follow care plansPreferred Qualifications:Experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health needsStrong communication skills and attention to detailAbility to prioritize tasks and adapt to individual needsExperience in residential or community-based support settingsWhy This Role MattersDirect Support Professionals help create stability, independence, and meaningful daily experiences for the individuals they support.
