Lead A&P Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, coordinating and assisting A&P Skills Manager with all Aircraft Maintenance and systems related activities and assuring that the activities are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established safety and quality standards and procedures. Assists Manager and implements policies that ensure effective completion of area functions. Coordinates closely with related departments to maintain schedules and effect necessary changes and revisions. Assigns, trains, directs, and appraises Maintenance Mechanics. Ensures that safety regulations are closely adhered to. Completes related documentation as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Reads, understands and interprets applicablemaintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing and /or replacing components.Assists Management in developing short and long term goals and objectives. Provides suggestions and recommendations.Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies. Ensures that policies are updated and in accordance with evolving production and quality standards.Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Maintenance Department functions.Effectively supervises assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance.Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent10+ years' experience in commercial aircraft maintenance or modification.Valid A&P license4+ years of experience as a lead in an aircraft maintenance settingExperience with software tracking systems and electronic manualsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education received from an FAA approved aircraft maintenance and mechanic training programGEN-FAM for B777Heavy Check and/or Aircraft Mod experienceSUCCESS FACTORS/JOB COMPETENCIES:Must have working knowledge and ability to trouble-shoot, remove/replace, inspect, or adjust/rig aircraft systems, sub-systems and components (i.e. power-plant, landing gear, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, air conditioning and auxiliary power units)Knowledge of aircraft maintenance manuals, ATA codes, applicable F.A.R.S. and paperwork/sign-off proceduresQuality orientationWell organized and attentive to detailWillingness to assist othersAbility to closely follow written and verbal instructionsMust be able to understand, read, write and speak Standard English, including technical, aircraft maintenance related vocabulary, for technical and general work correspondenceMust be able to adhere to all established safety policies, processes and proceduresMust be willing to work varying shifts and days, holidays and OT as neededWORK ENVIRONMENT:This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
