Commissioning Electrical Superintendent Location: Remote (Project-Based Travel Required)Eligible Base Locations: Santa Teresa, NM | Portland, OR | Kansas City, KS | Houston, TX | Dallas, TX | Hillsboro, OR | Lenexa, KS | El Paso, TX | Abilene, TX | Detroit, MIEmployment Type: Full-TimeOverviewA well-established EPC organization is seeking an experienced Commissioning Electrical Superintendent to lead the final-phase execution of complex industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that electrical systems are installed correctly, tested thoroughly, and fully operational prior to turnover to operations.You will serve as a key field leader during the commissioning and startup phases, driving safety, quality, and schedule performance while coordinating across multiple project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead daily field safety briefings and enforce strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permitting requirementsOversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities for large-scale electrical systems such as power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and grounding networksPerform detailed system walkdowns to verify installation completeness and identify deficiencies prior to testingDirect and support functional testing activities, including insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, grounding verification, breaker testing, and system energizationTroubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls-related issues encountered during commissioningCoordinate closely with engineering, construction, vendors, and operations teams to ensure systems meet readiness and performance criteriaTrack commissioning progress and communicate status updates to project leadershipMaintain accurate and organized documentation, including test records, checklists, redlines, and turnover packagesQualificationsProven experience in commissioning and startup of large industrial electrical systemsStrong knowledge of power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and electrical infrastructureDemonstrated leadership experience managing field teams of ~15–25 electrical and instrumentation techniciansFamiliarity with commissioning workflows, system completion processes, and related tracking tools/softwareAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specificationsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced field environmentEffective communication and coordination skills across cross-functional project teamsWork Environment & ExpectationsRemote role with significant travel to project sites; candidates must be open to relocation based on project needsWork is performed in active industrial construction environments with varying conditionsFlexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and critical startup schedules as requiredStrong focus on safety, accountability, and meeting project deadlines
