Print Press Assistant(2nd Shift / 4:00pm -12:00am)
Job Description**We will train the right candidate A Press Assistant will provide support to the Press Operator in obtaining quality and quantity goals, according to customer guidelines and JSM's standard operating procedures. 2nd Shift 4pm-12am Essential Functions:• Change press plates, blankets, or inserts as required. • Clean ink fountains, plates, or printing unit cylinders when press runs completed. • Clean oil presses. • Collect/inspect random samples during print runs to identify any adjustments after each roll. • Feed paper through press cylinder and adjust feed and tension controls. • Load presses with paper and make necessary adjustments, according to paper size. • Mix inks and fill ink fountains. • Verify paper and ink meet job specifications. • Secure printing plates to printing units and adjust tolerances. • Estimate and deliver upon schedules and plans. • Quality checks. • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. • Comply with company policies and procedures. • Provide off-hours support. • Performs other duties as may be assigned. Requirements•• Knowledge of Production and Processing -raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing efficiency. • Knowledge of the English language - structure and content of English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, and rules of composition and grammar. • Knowledge of Computers - applications and data processing. • Mathematical Knowledge -arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications. • Skilled in Operation Monitoring -watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. • Skilled in Operation and Control - controlling operations of equipment or systems. • Skilled in Reading Comprehension - understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. • Skilled in Active Listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. • Skilled in Judgment and Decision Making - considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. • Near Vision Ability -seeing details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). • Strength and Endurance Ability - lifting up to 50 lbs; standing, bending, and stooping for up to 12 hours; using abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. • Ability with Arm-Hand Steadiness -keeping hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding arm and hand in one position. • Ability to Act with Problem Sensitivity -telling when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. • Ability to Apply Manual Dexterity -quickly moving hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. • Ability to Timely React - quickly responding (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
