Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager

Position Summary:
The Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial records and reporting. This role owns the month-end close process, financial analysis, and internal reporting and ensures that accounting operations support informed decision-making, compliance, and organizational sustainability.
The Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager partners closely with the COO and provides accounting leadership across the organization. This role requires a strong commitment to providing excellent internal and external customer service while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounting & Month-End Close
Maintain responsibility for the general ledger and overall financial accuracy.
Lead the monthly close process and consistently achieve a close timeline of five (5) business days.
Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Ensure balance sheet accounts are accurate, supported, and reviewed monthly.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare internal financial statements and management reports.
Develop clear financial narratives explaining trends, variances, and key financial drivers.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities.
Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.
Revenue, AR & Expense Oversight
Maintain ultimate accountability for accounts receivable accuracy and performance.
Review AR aging, turnover metrics, and collection trends.
Oversee expense classification, credit card expense recording, and cash controls.
Ensure transactional activity is reviewed and recorded in accordance with internal controls.
Restricted Funds, Cost Reporting & Audit
Track restricted funds and contract-related financial activity.
Prepare cost reports and supporting documentation as required.
Take the lead on agency audits and compliance with government entities (e.g., DESE).
Serve as the primary accounting contact during annual audits.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
Document and maintain accounting workflows and procedures.
Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and controls.
Strengthen internal controls across billing, accounts payable, cash handling, and AR.
Support expansion into new payer systems or jurisdictions as needed.
Limited IT Coordination
Coordinate with the COO on financial system access controls.
Assist with financial-system-related questions or reporting needs involving the MSP.
