Sr. Security EngineerBrisbane, CA 6 Months Contract + Possible ExtensionsPosition OverviewThe Security Engineer will design, implement, and manage security tools, processes, and policies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems. This role involves monitoring security infrastructure, responding to incidents, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with IT to embed security best practices across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM, and endpoint protection.Perform vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and remediation planning.Monitor security events, investigate anomalies, and respond to incidents in a timely manner.Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and technical standards.Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security audits.Research and recommend new security technologies and practices.Provide security training and awareness for employees.Maintain compliance with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11).Qualifications Required:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in a security engineering, network security, or cybersecurity role.Strong knowledge of network protocols, security technologies, and system hardening practices.Strong knowledge of vulnerability management, vulnerability scanning tools (Okta) and ongoing patching operationsExperience with SIEM tools, vulnerability management platforms, cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP), email security, and mobile device securityKnowledge of SOC 2 compliance and incidence responseFamiliarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.Incident response and forensics experience.Key Competencies:Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Continuous learning mindset to stay ahead of evolving threats.The salary range provided for this contract role represents our good faith estimate for this position. Within the range, individual offers will vary based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process (W2 or C2C).
