Software Engineer II - Python (Richadson TX, Memphis, TN)
JOB SUMMARY
Software Engineers II design, develop, document, test and support software features that improve or extend ARGO’s enterprise software solutions involving front-end, application-tier, and/or interface layers of the solution architecture.
EXPECTED WORK AND PERFORMANCE
Job duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Executes the software development process, from technical design through testing, for system and business functionality for data analytics applications, including: data pipelines, external integrations, and REST service design and development.
Designs, develops, documents, and tests business logic, user interfaces, database interactions, and solution level functionality.
Controls scope of individual tasks by ensuring each adheres to the functional and non-functional requirements.
Facilitate design sessions and prepares/modifies conceptual and technical design documentation
Engages in code reviews to ensure adherence with coding, security, and performance standards.
Generates automated and manual test cases for use in unit, QA, and regression testing.
Prepares documentation for use in release notes and solution documentation in order to convey changes and features to customers, developers, testers, and architects.
Develops small to mid-size projects without direct supervision. Includes ability to design, implement, document, test, and complete all phases of the project; ability to communicate analysis, design, and implementation results in code reviews; ability to communicate requirements, functionality, benefits, and migration issues clearly in documentation.
Actively collaborates with cross functional team members, including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Analytics QA Specialists on project specifications, analysis, high and low-level design, and test plan creation.
Resolves defects in existing functionality and tests code modified for defect resolution to ensure functional integrity.
Mentors other Software Engineers and project team members in design & development processes.
Position may require travel for onsite customer development projects.
Demonstrate understanding of ARGO’s value chain CRP3 (Customer Relationships & Satisfaction, Revenue Expansion, People Management & Development, Process Improvement, and Product Innovation) through actions and accomplishments.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering (SE) or related technical field is required for the position.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the full life-cycle development of enterprise solutions including design, construction, testing, implementation and debugging.
Demonstrable proficiency in industry standard development tools and methods
Technical development reports
Test reports, including quality and performance
Peer-reviewed, quality code released in git
Testing and optimization with TDD
Experience with development of, distributed task queues, and similar systems.
Experience working with web development frameworks to create REST and JSON-RPC services (Flask, Rails, etc.)
Experience working with distributed task queues (Celery, redis, etc)
Experience with cloud technologies and native cloud development (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
SKILLS
Strong dynamic language and toolset experience (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Javascript)
Expertise working in both Linux and Windows environments
Proven competence of algorithms, design patterns, and data structures.
Proven competence with relational databases (SQL Server, ORM Technologies).
Ability to document requirements and specifications.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and design specifications.
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within and among ARGO cross-functional teams to achieve project success criteria.
Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
Ability to mentor other Application Developers and Software Engineers.
Ability to effectively communicate deliverables and expectations to individuals and customers. Ability to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Pay: $90,796.75 - $150,000.00 per year
