Our culture supports learning, growth and well-being of all of our team members.Summary Of The RoleReporting to the Construction Manager, the Temporary Construction Assistant will assist Solar Installation Supervisors in all aspects of PV installations on rooftops, multifamily structures, and commercial projects. As a Construction Assistant, you will play a crucial role in transforming lives by providing clean energy solutions for income-qualified communities.What You Will Be Doing (essential Responsibilities)This is a 4-6 month temporary assignmentConduct site visits to screen potential sites for solar access and safety concernsConduct energy efficiency auditsPull permits in various cities for projectsAssist on-site on installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job traineesAssist installation supervisors in loading and unloading equipmentMake equipment pickups and handle receivingParticipate in design and installation meetingsCompile project documentation for pre/post installationProject commissioning: ensuring that all systems are installed, tested, evaluated for performance, and interconnected according to the requirementsHelp maintain job site safety by identifying hazards, ensuring workers have necessary equipment, conducting regular inspections, and planning for emergencies.Lead warehouse inventory management and organizationOther job duties include hardware store runs, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, and generally participating in activities vital to make solar happen for income-qualified communities/familiesTreat clients, contractors, and co-workers, and members of the public with kindness and respectComply with all company policies, including company safety policyYour areas of knowledge and expertise...Experience in solar/general construction skillsExcellent communication skills (Proven ability to work with and communicate well with diverse groups)Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to work on PV installationsAbility to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlAbility to lift, move, transport, position, put, install or remove equipment up to 50lbsAbility to be exposed to outdoor work environments and weather conditionsFlexibility and willingness to embrace change, focus and contributeWillingness to work evenings and weekends as neededMust have a valid driver's license with no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, or points on their recordWillingness to travel to sites throughout the region (some travel outside the region may be needed)General digital literacy in Microsoft Office, Google SuiteIt would be great if you also had...PV system installation experience (commercial and residential)Experience in training and/or working with volunteersNABCEP certificationPassion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better placeCompensationBenefits and how we take care of youThe compensation range for this TEMPORARY fulltime position is $21.00-$27.00 per hour.
