Conditioning Technician
Job Title: Conditioning Technician Location: Rochester Hills, MI Position Type: Temp-to-Hire (Eligible for permanent conversion after 90 days of successful completion) Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 / hour Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Monday – Friday) Overtime: Occasional, varies based on production needs Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Conditioning Technician to join our Product Development Samples Production team in Rochester Hills. The primary responsibility of this role is to receive orders into the conditioning and finishing areas and execute the next phase of production using a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) process. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience setting up and operating specialized processing equipment, maintaining strict customer standards, and ensuring full traceability of all processed materials. Experienced operators will also have the opportunity to assist in training and guiding newer team members. Key Responsibilities Production & Order Processing (41% - 50%): Follow FIFO order to process leather through required finishing routines. Utilize instructions and targets listed on the Production Routine to maximize defect-free output within standard timeframes. Equipment Set-Up & Monitoring (10% - 20%): Assist in setting up and operating processing equipment, including embossing presses, stakers, milling drums, spray lines/roll coaters, air-off tunnels, and de-dusters. Monitor products closely and communicate any quality concerns to the Production Leader or Supervisor. Documentation & Traceability (5% - 10%): Complete all necessary paperwork accurately to maintain strict traceability and compliance records (routines, FTP charts, etc.). Safety Compliance (5% - 10%): Maintain a safe work environment at all times, adhering to all company policies and federal/state regulations. Proactively report any unsafe conditions or machinery. Housekeeping & 5S (5% - 10%): Maintain cleanliness and organizational standards within the workstation in alignment with 5S practices. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience operating industrial production, finishing, or conditioning equipment (experience with leather, textiles, or spray/coating lines is a major plus). Strong adherence to quality standards and fine attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret production routines, order instructions, and tracking charts. Commitment to workplace safety and 5S standards. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; willingness to assist in training others as experience grows. Reliable attendance and ability to work the designated 1st shift schedule. #TLRRG
