The employee assists with identifying, acquiring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network products. This individual also assists in the implementation of the system and building-level technology plans.QualificationsNorth Carolina Teacher Licensure077 Instructional Technology SpecialistOther qualifications acceptable to the Board as appropriate and acceptable.ResponsibilitiesFollow all rules, policies and procedures of Carteret County Public Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school/technology issues.Collaborate with teachers and instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology.Model the integration of technology in all curriculum areas.Facilitate school participation in technology programs and activities.Conduct staff development in technology integration, the NC Computer/Technology Skills Curriculum, and the NC Technology Competencies for Educators.Collaborate with the school library media coordinator to provide leadership in the school's use of instructional technology resources to enhance learning.Follow a plan for professional development and actively seek opportunities to grow professionally.Implement best practices related to technology use in the school program based on research, pilot programs, and state/national standards.Work with the principal and school leadership team to provide access to technology resources and services of the technology facilitator at point of need.Work with teachers and technology staff in selecting resources compatible with the school technology infrastructure.Assist in planning the design of the technology infrastructure so that information resources are continually available to the school community.Promote family, business, and community partnerships that support academic success, career readiness, and well-being of all children.Adhere to and communicate copyright and other laws and guidelines for the distribution and ethical use of all resources.Assist in maintaining hardware, software, and network infrastructure.Serve as the school contact for addressing hardware and software issues.Lead, with the School Library Media Coordinator, the Media and Technology Advisory Committee in effective decision making to promote the media and technology program.Provide leadership and collaborate with the Media and Technology Advisory Committee to develop, implement, and update a school instructional technology plan aligned with the system-level plan.Collaborate with teachers, media and technology staff, and students to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.Play a leading role in the school's budgetary process to ensure funding for the instructional technology program to support school-wide goals.Lead in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional technology program.Prepare and submit accurate reports as required.Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed to ensure student safety.Other responsibilities deemed appropriate or acceptable by the principal.Terms of EmploymentTen-month year/Contract/FLSA Exempt.Salary$4,100 per month.EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on Evaluation of Licensed Employees of the Carteret County Public Schools Board.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMaintain confidentiality of staff and student information.Demonstrate considerable knowledge of computer technology, multiple hardware platforms, network architecture, and cabling techniques.Organize and deliver staff development opportunities that support the use of technology in education.Establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; communicate with school personnel, students, and parents while complying with confidentiality requirements.Have physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds, perform repetitive motions, and handle mobility tasks (walk, lift, stoop, stand, grasp, kneel, crouch).Contact InformationJay Westbrook, PrincipalEast Carteret High SchoolPhone: 252-728-3514Email: james.westbrook@carteretk12.orgJ-18808-Ljbffr
