EHS Specialist – Hazardous Waste & Compliance
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineering Associate to support and maintain EHS programs in a biotechnology/manufacturing environment. This role will focus heavily on hazardous chemical management, biological waste handling, spill response, compliance, and safety program implementation.Key Responsibilities:• Support and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures• Ensure OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local regulatory compliance• Manage hazardous and biological waste programs• Conduct inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations• Lead spill response and emergency response activities• Deliver EHS training and promote workplace safety culture• Maintain documentation, permits, reports, and safety metrics• Support CAPA activities and continuous improvement initiativesRequired Qualifications:• 5+ years of EHS experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, or manufacturing environments• Strong experience with hazardous chemical and biological waste management• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, HAZMAT regulations, and San Diego County CERS portal• Experience with incident investigations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skillsPreferred:• HAZWOPER Certification• ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 experience• First Aid/CPR/AED certification• Lean / 5S / Six Sigma knowledge
