Bread & Friends is hiring Front of House Team Members with barista experience! About B&F: Bread & Friends is a bakery and daytime restaurant on Fore Street, in the Old Port neighborhood of Portland; our mission is to foster community through delicious food that is meant to be shared. Naturally leavened bread, artisan pastry, a curated coffee program, and an elevated breakfast menu form the core of the B&F experience, complemented by a craft coffee program and a small wine and beer selectio. Bread & Friends is open 7 days a week from 8AM-1PM. We are currently seeking both part-time and full-time baristas, with shifts starting at 7am and ending around 3PM. About the Position: We offer a hybrid of counter and table service with excellent hospitality and delicious offerings being of the utmost importance to the guest experience. The barista position is fast paced and high volume on a daily basis with tickets to fulfill with drinks for tables as well as to-go beverages. To complement our bakery and breakfast offerings, we offer a craft coffee program along with tea, house-made sodas, and brunch cocktails - all of the baristas are expected to make and serve in a timely manner. This position requires someone who is organized and is passionate about the quality of the drinks that they make and serve to each guest. Position duties include: Create and maintain a hospitable atmosphere for all guests. Execute orders in a timely and hospitable manner. Dialing in each morning to ensure that drinks are as delicious as possible. Make and serve high quality espresso drinks, with well steamed milk, and intentional art. Maintain a knowledge of the menu for each department (bread, pastry, restaurant, coffee, wine/beer) and be a guide and resource for guests on the ingredients, purveyors, cooking/baking techniques, etc. that are used on our menus. Being able and willing to work multiple positions (barista and register), with the ability to evolve during service to allocate your efforts where they are most needed. B&F is a pooled house where all hourly employees participate in the tip pool and are tipped out by the hour. We expect FOH employees to make at least an additional $10/hr in tips. Ability to work efficiently and maintain a calm and friendly demeanor in a fast paced, high volume environment. Can meet physical demands of position including pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 50lbs, and standing for extended periods of time. At least 1 year of barista experience in a high volume specialty/third-wave cafe.
