Linux System Administrator
Linux System AdministratorWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Linux System Administrator to join our partner's IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing enterprise Linux environments and supporting storage, backup, security, and patching systems. This role requires hands-on expertise with IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup, and vulnerability management tools, along with a solid understanding of system hardening and package management. Key skills include: Linux Administration, Storage & Backup Management, Security & Compliance, System Monitoring & Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis, and Automation & Scripting.ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems in a production environmentManage and support IBM Enterprise Storage solutions, ensuring high availability and performanceConfigure, monitor, and troubleshoot Vertias NetBackup for enterprise backup and recovery operationsPerform system patching and package management using YUM repositoriesExecute and remediate vulnerability scans using Nessus, ensuring compliance with security standardsSupport and maintain STE/STIN processes and environments (as applicable to organizational standards)Implement and maintain system security configurations, including NSF frameworks/policiesMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive improvementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams for infrastructure upgrades, audits, and incident responseMaintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and compliance requirementsRequirementsTS/SCI FSP ClearanceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, or similar)Experience with IBM Enterprise Storage systemsStrong knowledge of Vertias NetBackup (NetBackup Administration)Experience with Nessus vulnerability scanning and remediation workflowsProficiency with YUM package management and patching strategiesFamiliarity with STE/STIN processes and NSF-related security frameworksSolid understanding of Linux security, system hardening, and compliance practicesStrong troubleshooting and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)Desired SkillsRed Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent certificationExperience in enterprise environments with high availability and disaster recovery requirementsFamiliarity with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environmentsAbout Us For more than 20 years, NewGen Technologies has solved our clients' toughest IT challenges with integrity, security, and outstanding service by delivering both technology and talent.
