Nurse Practitioner
The nurse practitioner manages all aspects of the patients care as pertains to comprehensive assessment, ordering, and overseeing the management of conventional chemotherapy and support of clinical services. It is important that a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude is displayed at all times as this person has front-line contact with patients and families.Duties and responsibilitiesProvide collaborative comprehensive care to oncology patients. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for patient's specific needsAssesses data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's needs. Initiates and documents appropriate interactions with patients and consulting physicians. Coordinates patient care and complete of documentation in a timely manner according to company policyProvides Education to meet patient/family needsAssists physicians and performs procedures as neededAbility to order and interpret diagnostic testEvaluates laboratory results and prepares for change of treatment based on laboratory resultsDevelop and implement treatment plans. Assist with clinical staff educationPrescribe and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulationsDocument subjective and objective findings in electronic health recordsMonitor and assess effectiveness of therapeutic therapiesKnowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirementsServe as Education & Drug Information resource to patients, billing personnel, and clinical staffCommunicates well with patients, medical staff, and co-workers; maintains an environment of caring, concern, and supportPossesses ability to manage multiple patient treatments in a fast paced environmentKeeps the Director of Clinical Services informed of any significant information and/or patient issuesManage after hours care, including weekend and evenings as requested by supervising physicianCommunicate verbally either in person or by phone or text to the supervising physician to optimize patient careElectronic health record documentation to be completed within 24 hours of the patient visitPerforms other duties/special projects as assigned. Working conditions/ Physical requirements Medical office setting Moderate noise levels from medical setting and equipment Standing for long periods of time Ability to see details at close range Ability to listen and understand information through spoken words and sentences Ability to read and understand information in writing Ability to communicate information in speaking so others will understand Daily uses of hands to type, file, and write/sign documents Minimum lifting requirements of 25 pounds in order to transfer equipment, help patients with positioning, and pack/unpack supplies Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes in order to assist patients Qualifications/Education RequirementsMust be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Must have a certification as a nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organizationGood knowledge of medicine as related to medical examination, health history, the development of working diagnoses, and other areas as appropriate to the specific service providedOncology Certified Nurse certification (OCN)Minimum 2 years oncology experience as a NPComputer experience with EMR knowledgeExcellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productive, organized, treats leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuously learning and willing to ask for helpAbility to work efficiently and effectively in a detail oriented, fast-paced setting Licensure/Certification Must have a certification as a nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization Must have Advanced Practice Certificate Must have active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification Must have Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in AZ
