Construction Estimator

a growing general contractor focused on multifamily housing projects across California, is seeking a Preconstruction / Estimator to join their team in San Diego, CA. This role will support early project planning, subcontractor pricing, bid leveling, and budget development, with a clear path toward a Preconstruction Manager role.What You'll Do as the Preconstruction / Estimator:Lead bid outreach by sharing plans, specs, and scope documents with subcontractorsGather, organize, and compare subcontractor pricing across key tradesIdentify scope gaps, exclusions, and inconsistencies before bids are finalizedBuild and maintain bid leveling sheets, cost comparisons, and pricing summariesSupport pricing through DD, CD, GMP, and other preconstruction milestonesPartner with project managers, leadership, and operations teams during early project planningPrepare clean handoffs so awarded projects move smoothly into constructionMust-Haves as the Preconstruction / Estimator:2-5+ years of estimating, preconstruction, or related construction experienceExperience reading drawings, specs, and trade scopesStrong Excel skills and comfort organizing detailed pricing dataAbility to compare subcontractor bids and spot missing or unclear scopeHighly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-consciousStrong communication skills with subcontractors and internal teamsNice-to-Haves as the Preconstruction / Estimator:Multifamily construction experienceCommercial GC experienceExperience supporting DD, CD, and GMP pricing roundsFamiliarity with construction management or estimating softwareInterest in growing into a Preconstruction Manager roleOur Client Offers:Base compensation targeting approximately $110K-$130K, plus bonus, depending on experienceA strong project pipeline across CaliforniaHigh visibility with leadership and project teamsClear growth path into preconstruction leadershipCollaborative, team-oriented environmentOpportunity to make a direct impact on project setup and deliveryTrueline and its clients are unabashed equal-opportunity employers committed to a diverse workforce.
