Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Title: Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist (Finance)Contract Duration: May 18, 2026 – May 17, 2027Location: Hybrid (Louisville, KY area – must be local)Overview:We are seeking a Finance professional to support Accounts Payable and Receivables functions, with a strong focus on sales tax compliance and business licensing. This is a hybrid role requiring occasional in-office presence for mail handling, meetings, and other operational needs.Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility to work extended hours Monday–Thursday and shorter days on Fridays. Additional time may be required during period-end reporting.This role offers potential for extension or conversion to a full-time position.Key Responsibilities:Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report accounts related to sales tax compliance and business licensingPartner with a third-party co-sourcing provider to ensure timely reporting and payment remittanceCoordinate and prepare data uploads from General Ledger systems to external partners; analyze variances and resolve discrepancies within deadlinesMaintain tracking of license renewals through Excel and General Ledger dataPrepare journal entries and support General Ledger account activityPerform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial recordsCollaborate with internal teams, external partners, and local jurisdictions to obtain and manage business licensesPrepare Accounts Payable payment requestsProcess incoming mail, documentation requests, and respond to outstanding notices related to sales tax and licensingSupport sales tax registrations for new locationsMaintain accurate sales tax rates in coordination with internal and field teamsPrepare periodic store open/close reportsAssist with additional projects and documentation requests as neededQualifications:Experience in Accounts Payable/Receivable or general accounting/financeStrong understanding of General Ledger processes, journal entries, and account reconciliationsExperience with sales tax compliance and/or business licensing preferredProficiency in Excel for data tracking and analysisStrong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesAbility to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholdersAdditional Details:Hybrid role; candidates must be located near the Louisville, KY areaOccasional in-office presence requiredOpportunity for long-term growth based on performance
