POSITION SUMMARY: Works as part of the Finance department of Akin to oversee the biweekly payroll processing for the organization. Manages the payroll account for each employee, verifies hours worked and pay rates, and issues paychecks. Maintains and updates payroll records. Acts as the first point of contact for employees in matters of time, attendance and payroll. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Calculating and distributing salaries, ensuring that employees are paid correctly and on time Manage payroll records, enter employee data into the payroll system and maintain data in collaboration with human resources Work in partnership with the human resource department in managing benefits withholding, payroll deductions, garnishments, tax reporting, managerial reports and W-2’s. Assisting employees with payroll related concerns, inquiries, and problems with their pay Communicating and collaborate with other departments like HR and IT Conduct internal and external payroll audits Provide accurate reports and notifications to accounting/finance team KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Customer service - must be empathetic, courteous, patient and level – headed Strong time management skills with the ability to work well with time constraints and deadline pressure Demonstrated problem solving abilities Strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively with diverse populations and all levels of personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 3-5 years of experience with payroll processing Knowledge of payroll software Successful completion of a criminal background check Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives clients. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Related education or certification Bilingual in English and Spanish SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS: The salary range for this position is $28.74 - $40.23. The starting salary range for this position is $28.74 - $31.61 DOE for external candidates. Full-time employees will also receive 10 days of vacation leave each year, three Employee Appreciation Day each year, and will accrue one sick day per month (pro-rated for part-time employees).
