Maintenance Technician Intern

TITLE: Maintenance InternPosition Summary:The Maintenance Intern will support the Maintenance team in repairing, maintaining, and improving industrial machinery and production equipment. This position offers hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems within a manufacturing environment. Tasks, work area, and schedule may vary based on work volume and business needs.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Assist with repairing, maintaining, and improving industrial machinery, special assembly machines, and production equipment under the guidance of experienced maintenance technicians.Support troubleshooting activities for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.Help perform timely repairs and part replacements to minimize equipment downtime.Assist with routine inspections and schedule preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.Observe and help monitor equipment performance to identify potential issues before they result in downtime.Support documentation of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and equipment downtime.Assist with basic testing of machinery to verify proper operation after maintenance or repairs.Follow all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies during maintenance activities.Maintain organization and cleanliness of work areas in accordance with 4S principles.Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.Learn to operate production equipment and support equipment such as cranes and forklifts (training provided).Assist with equipment installation, removal, and setup of new machinery.Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support equipment reliability and process improvements.Attend required team or supervisor meetings.Assist with basic welding or fabrication tasks as permitted by skill level and training.Participate in training and development programs to build technical skills and industry knowledge.Work effectively as a team member in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).Interest in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, and manufacturing equipment.Basic mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.Familiarity with basic hand tools and measurement tools preferred.Ability to read and understand basic technical manuals, blueprints, or schematics with guidance.Basic understanding of electrical components such as sensors, switches, and relays is a plus.Exposure to PLCs or automation systems is beneficial but not required.Ability to measure in inches and millimeters using tape measures or calipers (training provided).Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.Effective communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
