Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Normal, Illinois.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med SurgDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/01/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 1, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool) position requiring Epic EMR experience and a minimum of one year of nursing experience, working nights in a fast-paced inpatient hospital setting.DetailsFloat pool position covering multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute RehabPatient population includes acute and chronically ill patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest painNight shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week13-week contractEpic EMR used; prior Epic experience requiredRequirementsActive IL RN license required; temporary license acceptedCurrent BLS certification (AHA)Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience requiredEpic EMR experience requiredLevel 1 Trauma experience requiredProficiency in IV venipuncture, blood administration, medication administration, and post-operative careAbility to float to and manage diverse patient populations across multiple inpatient unitsEnglish proficiency required (speak, read, write)Additional InformationCandidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligibleRTO is not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contractContingent workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any location within this health systemResponsibilities include floating to various inpatient units, completing patient assessments, developing and modifying care plans, administering medications, performing IV venipuncture and blood administration, providing post-operative care, and discharging patients with educationDelegates patient care tasks to assigned HCTs and validates completion throughout the shiftParticipates in team huddles, conducts bedside shift reports, performs hourly rounding, and maintains patient communication boardsCollaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient careAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-679521.
