We help people love the way they look and feel for their most important moments by delivering personalized products and services through our convenient network of stores and e-commerce sites.The Hub Shipping Supervisor is responsible for providing strong leadership and supervising the day to day shipping and receiving functions assigned to the Transportation Department. Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for shipping, receiving, packing, inventory management and the transportation carrier scheduling in a safe and efficient manner. This includes planning, directing and coordinating all activities within the department including work force, training and facilitating the movement of product into and out of the distribution center while maintaining high standards with respect to safety, productivity, quality and on-time delivery. This position is instrumental in meeting and exceeding customers' expectations, while continuously identifying opportunities to streamline the workflow and gain efficiency.What You'll Bring | Skills & Experience The primary accountabilities and responsibilities of the Shipping Supervisor will consist of but are not limited to the following:Supervision & Leadership Plan, organize and direct the work of staff in receiving, warehousing and shipping operations to meet customer requirementsReview orders, schedules and other information to determine work sequence and material shipping dates, type, volume and destinationOrganize and manage day-to-day operations to ensure shipments are dispatched and picked up by carriers for on-time order fulfillmentDetermine manpower needed in the department according to volume levelsLead and motivate the workforce in a positive manner and effectively handle employee relations including, but not limited to, training, counseling, discipline and conflict resolutionFoster positive employee morale, enhance productivity and a fair and equitable work environment in compliance with Company policiesCommunicate effectively with all employees regarding both routine and exceptional issues including safety, quality, procedures, job performance and trainingCoordinate and communicate departmental needs with other departmentsSupervise staff to ensure that all packages are labeled accurately to proper destinationsEnsure that all product ships from the DC without discrepancies or packaging problemsSupervise the receiving and location of material into the system to ensure accurate inventory records and efficient retrievalEnhancing productivity levels through process-improvement as well as through people-developmentShipping Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other documentation to determine shipping priorities, work assignment and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedulesEnsure correct shipment of ordersManage the shipping process by creating deliveries for all shipments to appropriate locations or other shipping sitesOversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipmentsContact carriers to schedule pick-ups times and arrange scheduled pick-up timesMaintain shipping goals by coordinating staff, equipment and customer demandPrepare management reports as neededMaintain inventory of shipping materials and suppliesImplement effective inventory control procedures to ensure the availability of materialsMonitor Drivers Logs to ensure compliance according to DOT regulationsSafety Train employees to practice safe and efficient work techniques to minimize potential injuries and hazardous conditionsParticipate and conduct safety meetings and inspections in a timely mannerMaintain equipment in good working orderEnsure that material areas are kept neat and orderlyLead by example to ensure that employees always maintain acceptable levels of housekeeping with regard to equipment and their assigned work area and/or departmentEnsure that employees always wear the appropriate safety attire and protective equipmentEnsure all employees are trained on proper shipping procedures and usage of RF hand-held scannersMonitor the shipping operations to make sure it is run in an efficient mannerQuality Ensure that all quality protocols and procedures are followedEvaluate and review quality performance in accordance with established guidelines, adjust to changes in the organization, evaluate training requirements and initiate appropriate and timely corrective actionsCommunicate with other departments to address and solve problems with packaging, weight discrepancies, labeling issues and any other problem that affects the smooth flow of materialsConduct shipping audits on a regular basis to ensure pick list instructions are met, shipments are prepared correctly, and shipping issues are minimizedHigh School or Equivalent requiredMust possess minimum 3 years of warehousing and shipping supervisory experience preferably in a fast-paced, high volume distribution center environmentMust be "hands-on" with strong leadership and managerial skillsProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn proprietary programsExcellent communication (verbally and written) with all levels of the organization and able to build effective relationships with othersHighly motivated and high initiative in providing proactive efforts to resolve discrepancies with a high sense of urgency to meet deadlinesProven experience working with all levels of employees and management and ability to garner the loyalty and trust of direct reportsAbility to motivate, encourage, and lead a team-oriented environmentMust have a "can-do" attitude with a sense of urgency and dedication to the success of the overall business ft. - 26 ft. automatic transmission box trucks with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVWReach above shoulder, at waist level and below waist level to maneuver and direct controls to operate truckSquat or crouch to handle or position freightEnter and exit vehicle cab minimum of 8-10 times per day. Entry and exit will be achieved with the assistance of various steps, footholds, and handholds.
