Job Title: Integration Platform EngineerLocation: Chesterfield, VA (Day 1 Onsite – Hybrid)Duration: 12+ Months Contract (Potential Extension)Interview Mode: OnsiteEmployment Type: W2 OnlyJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Integration Platform Engineer to design, build, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available integration platforms supporting a large-scale AWS modernization initiative. This role focuses on API management, messaging systems, event-driven architecture, and enabling application teams through automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).Key ResponsibilitiesIntegration Platform EngineeringDesign, build, and operate API gateways, messaging systems, and event-driven platforms (Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Amazon MQ, MSK).Modernize legacy middleware (JBoss/WebLogic) into API-based and event-driven architectures.Implement secure service-to-service communication (mTLS, OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, Zero Trust).Manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes, ECS Fargate, or EKS.Develop API lifecycle capabilities: routing, throttling, versioning, and validation.Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and cross-region replication.Ensure compliance with CJIS, COV, FBI security standards.Automation & IaCBuild and maintain IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.Develop reusable modules for APIs, messaging clusters, and infrastructure.Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated provisioning and deployment.Enable self-service provisioning for application teams.Automate runbooks using AWS Systems Manager and Ansible.Implement drift detection and automated remediation.Leverage AI tools for IaC generation, documentation, and automation.Observability & Reliability EngineeringBuild centralized logging, monitoring, and tracing systems (CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace).Implement distributed tracing across microservices and event-driven systems.Define SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, and incident management practices.Develop dashboards, alerts, and operational playbooks.Enable predictive scaling and automated incident response using AI/ML.Required SkillsHands-on experience with messaging/integration platforms (Kafka, SQS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Amazon MQ).Experience with API gateways and microservices communication.Strong expertise in Terraform, CloudFormation, and/or Ansible.Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, or container-based environments.Knowledge of security protocols: mTLS, OAuth2, JWT, OIDC, Zero Trust.Experience with observability tools and distributed systems monitoring.Familiarity with compliance frameworks (CJIS, NIST, PCI).Experience supporting application teams with platform services.Preferred SkillsStrong AWS experience (S3, CloudFront, CloudTrail, App Mesh, Route 53, IAM, VPC, GuardDuty, etc.).Experience migrating legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.Knowledge of schema registries, event versioning, and contract testing.Experience with AWS Service Catalog, Crossplane, or AFT.Background in SRE or platform engineering.
