Medical Assistant/Receptionist
Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional patient service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient intake procedures, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Medical Receptionist will contribute to smooth clinic operations while ensuring patients receive compassionate and efficient care.
Duties
Greet patients promptly and professionally, creating a welcoming environment
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting vital signs and updating patient information
Schedule appointments efficiently using EHR systems and coordinate follow-up visits
Verify insurance details and process billing information accurately
Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and current medications
Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters, ICD coding, and other relevant data
Support clinical staff by preparing charts, updating records, and managing correspondence
Handle phone calls, answer inquiries, and provide general administrative support
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards
Assist with specimen collection or X-ray scheduling as needed in outpatient or inpatient settings
Skills
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD coding
Experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics preferred
Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery
Ability to manage intake procedures including vital signs and medication administration support when necessary
Knowledge of inpatient/outpatient procedures across various specialties such as Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, PICU, OR experience, Level I & II trauma centers, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or hospital experience is advantageous
Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred but not required
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
Professional communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and staff in high-pressure environments
