2026-2027 District Curriculum Specialist- Elementary RLA (PreK-5)

Primary Purpose To provide district-level instructional leadership in specific core content areas of math, science, social studies and reading/language arts, which would support the implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Facilitates the development and implementation of curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, assessments, and the alignment of instructional practices. Works with Director of Curriculum/PD and campus administrators to facilitate a quality content specific program for NBISD. Qualifications Education / Certification: Bachelor's degree from accredited university, Masters preferred Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Post-graduate training and/or specialized training in the content area Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge and leadership in the subject assigned Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to establish and maintain relationships with teachers and administrators Ability to analyze and interpret data Ability to select, develop, and/or model effective instructional interventions Ability to develop, locate and communicate resources/services for students Ability to support special program effectiveness and program compliance Ability to analyze and monitor intervention fidelity at each campus Experience/Other Requirements: Minimum five years teaching experience in the content area for which the person is a teacher leader Teaching experience at multiple grade levels, with specific experience at level assigned, preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Strategies Attend district-level instructional meetings to address curriculum and instructional issues. Meet with departments/grade level teams/interventionist in the specified content areas. Collaborate with campus instructional coaches to support content specific areas. Attend training on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in the specified content area. Participate in district-wide needs assessments regarding teacher training and instructional resource allocations. Plan and conduct professional development in specified content area addressing identified needs. Provide training and support for teachers, including research-based data analysis, selection of appropriate interventions and evaluation of formative/summative results. Disseminate information regarding content-area instruction to all campus representatives. Advocate for teachers regarding curriculum concern areas. Work with district-level and campus-level administrators to resolve curricular and instructional problems. Develop content area district assessments, as needed. Analyze testing data. Assess and recommend instructional and curricular interventions based on the data analysis. Provide campus-based instructional support and mentor teachers when appropriate. Support classroom/intervention teachers with effective strategies for at-risk students. Leadership Provides support and monitors effectiveness of campus instructional implementation in assigned content area. Coordinate with NTA team to identify new teachers and appropriately train in content area. Communication Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development Attend professional training to develop and enhance content and job-related skills. Policy, Reports, Law & Other Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required. Update, maintain, and post curriculum documents. Facilitate and implement the adoption of textbooks and /or supplemental materials.
