Job description: $30–$32/hr (higher rate negotiable for candidates with diesel mechanic or strong technical experience) Start Date: January 5, 2026 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Overview A growing organization is seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Operator to join its team. This position focuses on supporting vehicle testing, field operations, and performance validation for advanced autonomous systems in real-world environments. Key Responsibilities Operate and support autonomous ground vehicles during test events and field trials. Perform system checks, assist with troubleshooting, and support basic field recovery tasks. Record operational data, document observations, and provide feedback to the engineering team. Ensure adherence to safety procedures and operational checklists. Collaborate with test and development teams to improve system reliability and performance. Qualifications Experience operating vehicles, performing field testing, or working with mechanical systems (diesel or heavy equipment preferred). Technical aptitude with the ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols. Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods. Prior experience with autonomous or robotic systems a plus. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Additional Info Vehicles include Oshkosh platforms, so familiarity is beneficial. CDL nice to have Candidates local to the area are strongly preferred. Pay is negotiable based on experience and technical background.
