As part of our mission, we are seeking one or more experienced Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) Trainers for Municipal Facilities Staff on a contract basis. This role will focus on training professionals on the maintenance and operations of heat pump equipment for public buildings.Location: Primarily virtual role with a limited in-person training delivery in the Bay AreaCompensation: Competitive hourlyKey ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver practical training sessions focused on the operation and maintenance of HPWH systems installed in municipal facilities.Design curriculum tailored to facilities staff in public buildings such as libraries, community centers, office buildings, and public safety facilities.Deliver engaging training sessions that build real operational confidence, not just theoretical knowledge.Cover topics such as day-to-day operations, preventative maintenance, controls integration, load management, and key differences from conventional gas-based systems.Adapt content to specific equipment and systems participants work with.Support participants in troubleshooting common issues and understanding when to elevate to higher support.QualificationsExperience with municipal and public sector facilities – direct experience working in or with government-owned buildings is a significant asset.Experience specifics: Performed work in municipal facilities such as office buildings, libraries, recreation centers, fire stations, or other public buildings.Collaborated with local government agencies, cities, counties, school districts, or special districts (e.g., water, wastewater, or transit agencies).Experience with Bay Area jurisdictions is highly valued, though not required.Training & communication skills – comfortable designing instructional content and leading sessions for working professionals, including: Developing training materials (slide decks, job aids, hands-on exercises) that translate complex technical content into clear action guidance.Facilitating group training sessions in a way that engages participants and invites questions.Strong understanding of how HPWH systems differ from conventional gas or electric resistance systems, including: Load shifting and demand management strategies.System sizing and performance considerations (e.g., climate, usage patterns).Controls integration and commissioning best practices.Maintenance requirements and common troubleshooting scenarios.Energy efficiency and decarbonization benefits.We are especially interested in candidates who can draw from real-world field experience and translate it into engaging, practical training for contractors, facility staff, or building professionals.J-18808-Ljbffr
