Registered Dietician

Morningstar Residential Care Center - Job Summary: Consults and advises under the supervision of the Administrator to ensure all residents are being fed with proper quality and quanitity of food and fluids. The Registered Dietician (RD) will develop care plans on all residents and renew and update as necessary. The Registered Dietician will monitor the duties performed by the Dinining Services Manager (DSM) and recommend changes as necessaryDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:Perform nutritional assessments on all new residentsPerform nutritional assessments on all residents with significant changesEnsures MDS+ assessment are completed following the RAI manualEnsures accurate, legible, timely documentation in medical recordConducts meal roundsPerform food intake studies as needed ( weight loss, low albumin, decubs, poor itake, etc)Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.Meets current documentation standards and policies.Recommends changes to the Dining Services ManagerReviews intake recordsReview monthly weights, makes recommendations for desired frequence of weightsReviews pertinent laboratory resultsReviews all tube feeding orders to ensure proper nutrition.Develops & ensures proper follow through with policies and procedures.Supervises other members of the healthcare team as needed to accomplish the plan of care which has been developed.Demonstrates competence in technical and manual skills according to scope of practice for DieticianFunctions as a resident advocate by protecting the resident's rights.Demonstrates creativity in solving problems and looking at situations in new and innovative ways.Interacts with residents, families, co-workers, managers and other departmental staff in a kind, knowledgeable and friendly manner.Consistently involves resident and family in planning for care, treatment,Professional Requirements:Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.Completes annual education requirements.Maintains regulatory requirements.Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion.Attends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled.Attends staff meetings and reads and returns all staff meeting minutes.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (QAPI) activities.Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.Promotes the success of others and a positive work environmentRegulatory Requirements:Bachelors DegreeCurrently Registered as Dietician in New York StateLanguage Skills:Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Additional languages preferred.Skills:Basic computer knowledge.Physical Demands:For physical demands of position, including vision, hearing, repetitive motion and environment, see following description.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising resident care.
