The Finance Strategy team at Affirms sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and corporate development and helps shape the company's financial direction as it scales. By combining deep financial expertise with strategic insight, the team drives clarity, alignment, and long-term decision-making across the business.The ideal candidate brings strong experience in fintech, payments, or financial services, with a proven ability to independently lead complex, ambiguous workstreams. You are highly analytical, deeply curious, and comfortable translating data into clear strategic insights. You will act as a go-to partner for senior leaders, driving rigor, clarity, and alignment across strategic financial initiatives.What You'll DoLead finance strategy initiatives by framing complex business questions, developing structured, data-driven analyses, and recommending clear courses of actionOwn and deliver strategic financial analyses related to growth planning, market entry, geographic expansion, competitive positioning, and capital allocationPartner closely with Finance, Product, Legal, Risk, and Executive Leadership to support critical business decisionsProvide objective analysis and recommendations on inorganic growth opportunities, including targeted acquisitions, partnerships, and venture investmentsLead business and financial diligence for select M&A or investment opportunities, coordinating inputs and synthesizing findings for leadership reviewDevelop high-quality materials, including executive readouts, investment memos, and strategic presentationsConduct competitive and market analysis, monitoring consumer payments trends, fintech innovations, and adjacent industry developmentsServe as a subject matter expert on Affirms financial model, industry dynamics, and strategic trade-offsIdentify emerging risks and opportunities and proactively surface insights to leadershipEstablish best practices, analytical standards, and repeatable processes within the finance strategy functionProvide informal mentorship and guidance to junior team members and cross-functional partnersWhat We Look For3+ years of relevant experience, including: Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or corporate strategy functionExperience in a strategy, finance, or corporate development role within fintech, payments, or financial servicesDemonstrated ability to independently lead high-visibility strategic initiatives with exposure to senior leadershipStrong foundation in finance, accounting, and strategy; experience with valuation and financial modeling preferredProven experience supporting or executing M&A, financing, or venture investment analysesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment with minimal oversightExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and pragmatic approachStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence without authorityHighly organized and detail-oriented, with strong planning and process ownership capabilitiesCollaborative, relationship-driven mindset with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organizationPay Grade - KEquity Grade - 6Employees new to Affirms typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirms focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $140,000 – $190,000USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $124,000 – $174,000Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Affirmers in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirms office.
