Campus Safety Officer

The Campus Safety Officer at Northland College plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the campus community. This position involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to incidents, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities: 1. Security Patrol and Incident Response: o Conduct routine patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking lots. o Respond promptly to emergencies, accidents, and incidents. o Address safety concerns and enforce campus policies. 2. Emergency Preparedness: o Familiarize oneself with emergency response plans and protocols. o Participate in drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness. o Assist in maintaining emergency communication systems. 3. Access Control and Safety Measures: o Monitor access points to campus facilities. o Lock and unlock doors as needed. o Ensure compliance with safety regulations. 4. Community Engagement: o Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff. o Promote safety awareness and encourage responsible behavior. o Collaborate with campus stakeholders to enhance safety initiatives. 5. Reporting and Documentation: o Maintain accurate records of incidents, patrols, and safety checks. o Prepare incident reports and contribute to safety-related documentation. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Law Enforcement Academy program in a relevant field (e.g., security management, criminal justice) OR equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in campus safety, security, or a related field. Knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures and security technologies. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with diverse individuals. Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within a campus safety context.
