Title: Automation Engineer Location: New Brunswick, NJ Industry: Heavy Manufacturing / Steel Production Compensation: $110K to $150K + full benefits + bonus eligibilityOverviewA leading North American manufacturing organization in the steel production industry is seeking an Automation Engineer to support and optimize critical mill operations. This is a hands-on, plant-focused role working directly with industrial automation systems that drive large-scale steel manufacturing processes.This position plays a key role in maintaining reliability, improving efficiency, and advancing automation capabilities within a high-volume production environment.Key Requirements (Must Have)U.S. Citizenship requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)Strong experience in industrial automation within manufacturing or heavy industryHands-on knowledge of:PLC systems (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley)VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)HMIs and industrial control systemsExperience with:SQL databases and reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports)Industrial software such as Wonderware / InTouchUnderstanding of Level I / Level II system integration in a manufacturing environmentAbility to troubleshoot and support production-critical systems on the plant floorWhat You’ll DoSupport and maintain automation systems across steel manufacturing operationsProgram and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and process control systemsMaintain and enhance HMI and graphical interface systems used in productionWork with Level II and Level I system interfaces to ensure seamless plant operationsUtilize data systems (SQL / reporting tools) to improve visibility and performanceIdentify and implement automation improvements to increase efficiency and consistencyCollaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams in a heavy industrial settingAdditional DetailsThis is a true manufacturing environment role (steel production / heavy industry)Day 1 benefits including medical, dental, vision, and PTO401(k) with company match, stock purchase plan, and bonus eligibilityStrong emphasis on training, technical development, and long-term career growthRelocation is available for the right candidate*If you do not have the requirements above, I will not be reaching out to you*
