Business Analyst- Pharmacy Systems
Job Title: Business Analyst – Retail PharmacyWe are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst with strong experience in retail pharmacy operations and technology systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of pharmacy solutions. You will play a key role in gathering requirements, improving workflows, and supporting systems that enhance patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with pharmacy stakeholders, operations teams, and IT to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirementsTranslate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process workflowsAnalyze retail pharmacy processes including prescription intake, dispensing, billing, inventory management, and point-of-sale systemsSupport implementation and enhancement of pharmacy management systems and integrations (e.g., e-prescribing, insurance adjudication, and third-party vendors)Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and pharmacy board regulationsConduct gap analysis, identify process improvement opportunities, and recommend scalable solutionsWork with QA and development teams to support testing, validation, and successful deployment of solutionsProvide ongoing support, documentation, and training to end users and stakeholdersFacilitate communication across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and timely deliveryRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on retail pharmacy or healthcare systemsIn-depth knowledge of retail pharmacy workflows, including dispensing, claims processing, prior authorizations, and inventory managementExperience with pharmacy systems such as dispensing platforms, pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems, or POS systemsStrong understanding of insurance adjudication processes (NCPDP standards, third-party billing)Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements (HIPAA, CMS, state pharmacy regulations)Proficiency in requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio)Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with specialty pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy operationsKnowledge of HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare data exchange standardsExposure to data analytics, reporting tools, or SQLCertification such as CBAP, CCBA, or PMP is a plus
