ASC Patient Services CoordinatorHours of Work: M-FEmployment Type: Non-ExemptShift: DayDirect Report: ASC ManagerOverviewThe surgery center patient service and intake specialist would be the first person a patient sees upon entering our Cath Lab/ASC (Ambulatory Surgical Center). Will check in patients as well as out, maintain the appears of the lobby, make follow up appointments, etc.Key ResponsibilitiesChecking in the patient (keeping up with arrival times, verifying info in charts are accurate, collecting copays & coinsurances, etc.)Moving patients into Merge, after check-inCommunicating with nurses about patient & family needsKeep family members updated and answer any questions within the scope of knowledgeCreate any follow up appointments/ testing appointments as needed, per Dr’s orders post procedureSettle journal finances daily- maintain monetary logs and settle cash box and deposits with billing departmentScan full chart into ASC Intergy after patient is dischargedUpdox & fax signed procedure notes into TCAVI IntergyMaintain the supplies and appearance of the lobby, breakroom and bathroomsOther duties as assignedASC FunctionsUpdox & fax signed procedure notes into TCAVI IntergyScan procedure logs in chronological order for Medical Records dept.Schedule pre-procedure lab appointments or lab slips if neededCollect ASC facility charges & copays on ASC IntergyIn Absence of ASC Procedure Scheduler: Schedule any ASC appropriate procedureIn Absence of ASC Pre-Cert Specialists: Obtain authorizations for ASC procedureKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of skills relative to the scope of practice for cardiovascular technicians.Knowledge of laws, regulations and practices for office based procedures.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.Knowledge of current standards of care and trends in the cardiovascular lab setting.Skill in operating a computer and copy machineSkill in screening and directing calls in a pleasant and expeditious mannerSkill in customer service by pleasantly dealing with all callers and effectively serving as clinic liaison.Ability to speak clearly and conciselyAbility to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructionAbility to communicate clearly.Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.Ability to work effectively, adapt to workplace culture and positively contribute as a team member.Environmental/Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Some exposure to communicable diseases.Physical/Mental DemandsWork requires hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, sitting for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard. Occasional stress from dealing with upset patients and/or emergency situations.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum one year of experience in a health care setting. Prior reception experience preferred. Intergy experience is desirable.
