Java Engineering Architect - Platform Modernization

Engineering Lead / Architect – Platform ModernizationWe’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead / Architect to drive the technical direction of a large-scale platform modernization initiative. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on architecture, integration strategy, security, and scalable engineering practices.ResponsibilitiesDefine architecture standards, integration patterns, NFRs, and security guidelines.Maintain architecture decision records (ADRs) and ensure technical decisions are traceable.Lead design reviews across backend services, APIs, frontend systems, and data flows.Partner with Product, DevOps, and business teams to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions around APIs, AKS/Kubernetes, event-driven systems, and orchestration platforms.Establish authentication, authorization, audit, and compliance-aware architecture patterns.Contribute hands-on through POCs, critical components, and reference implementations.Mentor engineers through design reviews, architecture discussions, and code quality practices.Leverage AI tools to improve architecture analysis, documentation, and engineering productivity.Required Skills10+ years of software engineering experience with strong architecture/technical leadership background.Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and REST API design.Strong understanding of OAuth/OIDC, RBAC, API gateways, audit trails, and secure architecture patterns.Experience with AKS/Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.Proven experience defining scalable integration and engineering standards across teams.Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.Pragmatic engineering mindset focused on scalability, maintainability, and operational reliability.Nice to HaveEvent-driven architecture experience (Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, etc.).Workflow orchestration platforms like Temporal.Legacy modernization and migration experience.Exposure to regulated or compliance-focused environments such as finance or operations.Tech StackJava, Spring Boot, Spring Security, REST APIs, AKS/Kubernetes, API Gateways, OAuth/OIDC, Kafka/Event Hubs, Temporal, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code.
