Controls Engineer

Specializing in custom hardware and software solutions for industrial process systems. CDSL also offers custom data collection and tracking solutions. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Controls Engineer at Control Design Solutions, Ltd. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including control system design, programming, and troubleshooting in the development and integration of hardware and software solutions for industrial process systems. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for performing detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope. Plan and direct the scope development, design, PLC/HMI programming, checkout, startup and optimization of control systems for industrial process applications. Perform on-site installation guidance, equipment checkout, startup support and operational efficiency development. Perform and direct the engineering of control systems including the design of controls panels and electrical schematics. Development of sequence of operations, PLC programming and HMI programming. Assist in development of engineering proposals including scope, budget and schedule requirements. Communicates with project manager or client during the life cycle of the project regarding matters of project development, scope, change orders, scheduling, budgets and troubleshooting. Qualifications BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field preferred. AS degree with applicable experience required. PLC/HMI programming experience that includes, but not limited to, Allen-Bradley, Ignition, Rockwell Factory Talk View HMI’s. Experience with programming, setup, and tuning of automation hardware such as instrumentation, variable frequency & servo drives, and communications. Experience with mechanical devices such as pneumatics, motors, and gearboxes. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Must be willing to roll-up sleeves and participate in the automation and equipment startup as required. Relevant Project Management or project leadership experience preferred. Willingness to travel up to 10-20%. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus. Functional experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Must be a motivated and self-directed individual. Good verbal and written communications skills.
