Solar E&I Superintendent

Position Summary:
The Solar E&I Superintendent is the on-site technical authority and manager for all electrical and instrumentation work. This position involves managing large crews and subcontractors, ensuring thesafe, high-quality, and timely installation of the entire electrical infrastructure of a utility-scale solar project. The Superintendent is a key link between the field crews, project management, and engineering teams, translating complex designs into a functioning power plant.
Key Responsibilities
Champion a zero-incident safety culture by leading daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), toolbox talks, and safety audits.
Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Manage the installation of all electrical components, including underground duct banks, conduits, and MV/LV (Medium/Low Voltage) cable tray systems.
Supervise the pulling, termination, and testing of MV and DC collection system cables.
Ensure the precise installation and calibration of SCADA, metering, and other instrumentation and control systems.
Conduct regular quality assurance inspections to verify that work aligns with design specifications, NEC (National Electrical Code), and other regulatory codes.
Develop and manage look-ahead schedules (e.g., two or three-week) to ensure labor and materials are properly sequenced.
Coordinate with other site superintendents (civil, mechanical) to resolve logistical and scheduling conflicts.
Track and report daily progress, crew hours, and productivity metrics to the Project Manager.
Provide direct supervision and mentorship to Electrical Foremen and craft workers.
Lead daily coordination meetings with subcontractors to review plans, address issues, and maintain a collaborative environment.
Proactively solve on-site technical and labor issues to avoid project delays.
Maintain detailed daily reports of all on-site activities.
Manage and track electrical materials and equipment deliveries.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in industrial electrical construction, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role on utility-scale solar or wind projects is required.
Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
Proficiency in electrical testing procedures, including megger, high-potential (Hi-pot), and continuity testing.
A deep understanding of medium-voltage terminations and electrical safety protocols.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction and Journeyman or Master Electrician license is highly preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
