Senior Python Developer

Overview In this role you will partner with FP&A and IT data teams to design, build, and optimize a forecasting and reporting platform. You will develop high-performance, scalable Python components and collaborate across FP&A, Investment, Actuarial, and data specialists to deliver robust solutions. You will lead engineering standards, mentor peers, and drive production-grade tooling and performance enhancements. This position offers impact by shaping a data-driven forecasting platform for a fast-paced firm and working with cross-functional teams to deploy scalable models. ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and optimize core Python-based code and compute environments (Jupyter, VS Code, Databricks)Integrate FP&A forecasting models, analytics, and data pipelines with FP&A and data teamsEnsure performance, scalability, and reliability across FP&A workloadsDrive technical innovation including compute grids, data vectors, and AI methods where relevantCollaborate with FP&A and external consultants to deliver performant model execution and toolingProvide technical guidance on backlog items for IT Data and supporting teamsServe as senior escalation point for critical incidents (Tier-3)Establish engineering standards, testing practices, and performance monitoringContribute to platform documentation, run books, and knowledge-sharingMentor junior developers and data engineers to raise engineering maturityEnsure maintenance, upgrades, and optimizations are delivered with minimal disruption Key requirementsExpert Python skills for high-performance, data-intensive systemsStrong understanding of Life & Annuity data, financial models, or large-scale computational enginesDeep knowledge of data management and integration in hybrid cloud ecosystems (AWS / Snowflake)Hands-on experience with compute parallelization and performance optimization techniquesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with FP&A and program leadership stakeholdersStrong leadership, mentoring, and ability to guide technical direction across teams10+ years in professional software engineering with significant Python developmentExperience building/maintaining financial modeling or large-scale computational systemsDesirable: experience with investment banks and/or life & annuity insurance domainsProven track record in data-driven platforms, large-scale computation, or advanced analyticsExperience with DevOps practices and ability to explain them to business usersInterpersonal and communication skillsLeadership and mentoringCollaborative stakeholder engagementPythonhigh-performance data systemsdata management and integration in hybrid cloud (AWS / Snowflake)
