Assist staff with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.Qualifications:Education/Certification:* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university* Valid Texas Teaching Certificate preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills* Ability to present information in one-on-one, virtual, small group, and large group environments to students, parents, and district staffExperience:* Experience in educational setting preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district's goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.Program ManagementAssist students in developing an accurate concept of self in the educational career, social, and family environments.Support students in achieving a mental and behavioral balance between their own needs and the demands of the educational, career, social, and family environments.Guide students toward the attainment of personal satisfaction from educational, career, and social experiences.Consult with significant adults in a student's life to provide an optimal learning environment.Serve as a liaison for staff and parents for the purpose of coordinating pupil personnel services and/or community services necessary to meet the developmental needs of all students.Organize and maintain confidential files on each student.Plan, organize, and may administer testing for students to assess their aptitudes, abilities, achievement, intelligence, and social adjustment.Assist students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data and work with students in evolving educational, occupational, and personal growth plans in terms of such evaluation.Obtain and disseminate educational information to students, staff, and parents.Help students to evaluate decision-making skills, degree of responsibility, and quality of choices.Assist students in setting appropriate goals and in determining realistic plans to achieve them.Conduct interviews, take family histories, identify student and family needs, and identify the objectives to meet those families' needs.Make recommendations regarding services and programs to assist students and parents in achieving the student's individual goals and objectives.Provide conferences to students/parents to enable them to achieve those objectives necessary for the student to achieve successfully in the ALC and to re-integrate to home campus.Participate in in-service training programs, staff meetings, and case conferences as an integral part of the instructional team.Attend professional workshops, conferences, and meetings pertinent to the position.Other:Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.Perform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:NoneEvaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor personnel.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over headLifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; some district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floorsMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressThis document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.The full job description for this position is included within this job posting.
