Handy Person Camp Seven Hills Reports To: Camp Director/Property ManagerDepartment: Outdoor ProgramStatus: ExemptSummary: To provide routine maintenance services in camp.Essential Functions:Follow directives by the Camp Director/Property Manager.Responsible for the routine maintenance of the camp facilities, equipment and grounds. This includes mowing, trimming, weed control and roads.Controls harmful insects, rodents and noxious plants in and around units, camp buildings, trails and other camp facilities.Assist in building maintenance.Responsible for the safe storage, use and inventory of maintenance materials, supplies, tools and equipment.Attends staff meetings when scheduled/necessary.Apply behavioral management techniques to conflicts with children when necessary.Report incidents/accidents to supervisor or health supervisor immediately.Required to stay on the property during hours of operation (Monday 8 a.m. to Friday 5 p.m.)Accepts other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Camp Director.Qualifications:Willingness to abide by the policies and practices of the Girl Scouts of Western New York Inc.High school diploma or equivalent.Ability and knowledge to operate general equipment (riding lawnmower, weed-eater, chainsaw, etc.)Certified Sex Offender Registry and Criminal Background Checks will be completed for personnel file.Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and peers in an outdoor environment.Current certification in First Aid and CPR or individual is willing to complete certification course during designated training day.Prior camp experience and/or interest in the Girl Scout Camping program.Willingness to place the needs of girls and camp above personal desires.Good health and stamina necessary to work in the camp setting.The acceptance of irregular work hours.Physical Requirements:Assist the campers in emergency situations.Lift 35 pounds.Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision.Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers.Demonstrate enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control and ability to adapt well to changing situations.Participate in structured and unstructured activities.Must be willing to work in an outdoor setting and in inclement weather.Provides excellent customer service to other staff members, campers, parents and visitors to camp.Accept and follow directions both in verbal and written form.
