Engineer I - iSeries Power Systems
Position OverviewThe primary responsibility of the iSeries / Power Systems role is to install and manage hardware and software, troubleshoot, and support IBM iSeries and Power Systems that support business applications. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and support iSeries / Power Systems hardware and software.Anticipate, identify, mitigate, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues. Escalate incidents as necessary.Manage incoming service requests and incidents through the Help Desk ticketing system related to iSeries / Power Systems activities.Collaborate with vendors, peers, and contractors to ensure secure and reliable system implementations and upgrades within project parameters.Monitor iSeries / Power Systems file systems, shares, and permissions.Monitor system performance and provide performance statistics and reporting. Document system configurations for hardware and software.Plan and implement software and hardware upgrades, patches (PTFs), and repairs.Ensure system backups are valid and regularly tested as part of disaster recovery planning.Maintain a test environment that accurately reflects production systems.Safety is an essential function of this role.Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, including participation in an on-call rotation.Perform other related duties as assigned.Additional Duties & ResponsibilitiesCompany Standards of ConductAll team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and adhere to company standards, work requirements, and rules of conduct.Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 21 years of age.Must have authorization to work in the United States.Associate degree in MIS or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.Must be able to obtain and maintain any required certifications or licenses as required by law or company policy.Technical certifications (e.g., IBM System Administration 7.1+) preferred.At least 1 year of experience with iSeries / Power Systems administration.At least 1 year of experience with iSeries / Power Systems access, utilities, security, and auditing applications (e.g., IBM Client Access, Navigator, BRMS, iSecurity, HelpSystems, absMessage, or similar tools).Strong service-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to change and reprioritize tasks with minimal oversight.Professional appearance and demeanor aligned with company standards.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.#LI-DNP
