Traveling Superintendent – Industrial (Millwright Focus) Direct Hire Opportunity with Superior Skilled TradesLocation: Tacoma, WA (Must be within ~2 hours)Travel: Regional travel (WA, OR, ID, CA)Industry: Industrial / Paper MillsCompensation: Competitive + BonusCompany Truck, Gas Card, Per Diem ProvidedPosition Overview Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Traveling Superintendent with a strong millwright/mechanical background to lead field operations across industrial job sites, primarily within paper mills throughout the West Coast.This role is highly hands-on and requires a leader who can oversee crews, coordinate with customers, manage schedules, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will act as the key point of contact between customers and millwright crews, driving successful project execution in fast-paced environments.Key Responsibilities Lead and manage millwright crews (typically 4–14 personnel) across multiple job sitesServe as the primary liaison between customers and field teamsOversee installation, repair, disassembly, and reassembly of industrial equipment (primarily in paper mills)Coordinate daily operations, manpower, materials, and equipmentDevelop and manage project schedules, including 2-week look-ahead planningPrepare and support job quoting and estimating activitiesMonitor project progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines and budget requirementsMaintain daily reports on job status, manpower, and issuesEnsure all work meets safety, quality, and project specificationsConduct safety meetings and enforce OSHA compliance and PPE standardsTroubleshoot and resolve field issues in real timeRequired Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or similar leadership role in industrial or construction environmentsStrong millwright or mechanical background (required)Proven experience leading and managing crews in the fieldExperience with quoting, estimating, and schedulingAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, field-based environmentWillingness to be on-call and travel regularlyWork Environment & Travel Projects located across WA, OR, ID, and CA (primarily paper mills)Travel varies by project (typically a few days at a time)24/7 on-call rotation requiredExposure to industrial environments and varying weather conditionsCompensation & Benefits Competitive base salary + team-based bonus structureCompany truck (take-home), gas card, phone, and laptopPer diem + company-paid hotels (individual rooms)Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with match + ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan)Company-paid short-term & long-term disabilityLife & AD&D insurancePTO and paid holidaysEmployee assistance programPre-Employment Requirements Must pass background check, drug screening, and MVR checkValid driver's license requiredNo DUI within the past 5 yearsNo more than 2 driving violations in the past 3 yearsAdditional Details OSHA certifications provided (OSHA 30 for Superintendents)TWIC card not required but may be obtainedStructured interview process including multiple interviews and assessmentPosition based out of Tacoma, WAIdeal Candidate A hands-on leader with a millwright background who can:Run crews effectivelyCommunicate with customers confidentlyManage schedules and project executionStep into an existing team and lead from day oneINDHPowered by JazzHR
