Press Brake Machine OperatorMetals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Press Brake Machine Operator in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries.The Brake Press Operator is responsible for operating an Amada Brake Press machine for producing parts and tools from metal using a brake press, a computer numeric controlled (CNC) piece of equipment that makes precision bends, punches or cuts into material.Responsibilities:Plans machining by studying & understanding work orders, blue prints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations on surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)Prepares and operates Brake Press machine with the proper program, tools and material for specified part.Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines.Monitors the machines as they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustment to produce a quality productInspects and measures finished products and compares to the requirements to determine if the process was completed properly.Notifies team leader immediately of any problems when running a part.Completes production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.Performs daily maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure functionality.Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a brake press operator.Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.Performs other related duties as assigned.Physical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bendLift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistanceOther Physical Requirements:Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)Steel-toed bootsHard hats with chin straps; chin strap must be worn at all time while in the warehouseProtective eyewearHand protectionArm guards/sleevesVisual acuity (correctable) to read instructions, safely operate machines and visually inspect partsHearing protection if required by the hearing conservation programWork Environment:May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.Working inside of an industrial warehouseModerate to loud noise levelsVibrationOils, dust, fumes and metallic particlesDay shiftHigh School Graduate or EquivalentTwo year technical degree and/or apprenticeshipNational Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certificate preferredProven experience as a Brake Press OperatorAbility to comprehend oral and written communicationAbility to articulate with concise thoughtsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings & documents, blue printsAbility to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gaugesMust have mechanical aptitude and good math skillsComputer Literacy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAMMust be organized with an attention to detailMetals USA - Gregor Technologies offers a competitive hourly rate range of $20.00- $24.00 and a comprehensive benefit program.
